Pakistan, China special diplomat review the latest status of the Afghan peace process

ISLAMABAD: China’s Special diplomat for Afghanistan Affairs Ambassador Liu Jian visited Special Representative for Afghanistan, Ambassador Muhammad Sadiq and examined the latest standing of the Afghan peace process.


Ambassador Sadiq briefed the visiting notable on Pakistan’s decisive role in the Afghan peace process, a press release issued here by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.


Ambassador Sadiq restated Pakistan’s continued support to Afghan-led and Afghan-owned intra-Afghan negotiations.


He noted that the start of Intra-Afghan Negotiations was a historic juncture for the Afghan leadership to deliver an inclusive, broad-based and extensive political arrangement in Afghanistan.


Ambassador Jian thanked Pakistan for playing a leading and constructive role in the Afghan peace process. He further added that Pakistan will continue its efforts of peace and stability in Afghanistan. Both Pakistan and China shared a similar goal of a peaceful and stable Afghanistan.


China’s special envoy for Afghanistan Affairs, Mr Jian, is on his first visit to Pakistan after assuming office earlier this year.
